Thoracoscopy is a video-assisted procedure that allows direct visualization of the pleural space (the area between the lungs and chest wall). Using a thoracoscope — a thin, flexible tube with a camera and light — the procedure is performed through a small incision between the ribs, typically under local anesthesia with sedation.
